Why build in the winter?

There are real advantages to building a timber frame and SIP shell in the winter.

When we leave, your builder will have a nearly "dried-in" shell to work with that keeps them out of the weather. Most builders appreciate this because it saves them time and the headaches that come with dealing with snow and freezing temperatures.

Plus our timber frame and SIPs go up in a fraction of the time it takes to build a conventionally framed shell. So, if they plan it right, your builder will be able to schedule all the other trades needed (such as a roofers, plumber, electrician, drywaller, tiler, etc) to finish the house before the build season is fully underway.

Timber Frame going up in winter.
It is below zero today. Our propane fireplace was onΒ  this morning at 7:30 and will not come on again until 8:00 or later this evening. Our home is so well insulated with the stress panels [SIPs] that we truly expect a heating bill of less than $10 per month when it is -10 outside!
